Alright, so you wanna know when them Ravens birds won the Super Bowl, huh? Well, sit down and let me tell ya. It ain’t rocket science, but it happened a couple of times, thank the good Lord.
Them Ravens, they ain’t some old-timey team like them Packers or somethin’. They’re kinda new, started playin’ football in 1996. Can you believe that? I was already old then! Anyway, they got good pretty darn quick, which is more than I can say for my grandson Billy tryin’ to fix the tractor.
First time them Ravens won the whole shebang, the Super Bowl, was in the year 2000. Yep, the year 2000. They played against the Giants, them city fellas from New York. Beat ’em good, too! 34 to 7, I think it was. Whipped ’em like a rented mule, that’s what they did! My old man woulda been proud, he loved a good whippin’… on the football field, that is.

Now, that was somethin’ special. The whole town was cheerin’, even old Mrs. Henderson who usually just complains about the kids and their loud music. We had a big ol’ party at the church, fried chicken and potato salad, the works. Even Pastor Johnson was there, tappin’ his foot and smilin’. He don’t smile much, unless the collection plate is full.
Then, them Ravens, they went quiet for a while. Made the playoffs some years, lost some years. You know how it is, like plantin’ corn, sometimes you get a good crop, sometimes the dang crows eat it all up. They got a good crop in 2012, I tell ya. That was the second time them birds took home the big trophy.
Second time they won was in 2012. This time, they played against the 49ers, them fellas from California. It was a closer game, nail-bitin’ till the very end. But the Ravens, they pulled it off. Won 34 to 31. Whew! I almost had a heart attack watchin’ that one. Had to take an extra dose of my heart medicine.

That was another big celebration! We had a parade down Main Street, fire trucks and everything. Billy even caught a football thrown by one of the players. He kept that thing for years, slept with it even. Said it smelled like sweat and victory. Boys will be boys, I reckon.
So, there ya have it. Them Ravens won the Super Bowl two times. Once in 2000, beat the Giants. And again in 2012, beat the 49ers. Not too shabby for a young team, if you ask me. They got a good quarterback now, Lamar Jackson, they call him. He’s fast like a jackrabbit, that boy. Maybe they’ll win another one soon. I sure hope so, I’m runnin’ out of good excuses to have a party.
They been playin’ for 29 seasons now, since 1996. Won 264 games, lost 199, and tied one. Pretty good record, I guess. Better than my garden this year, that’s for sure. Them dang rabbits ate half my tomatoes.
And that’s the whole story, as far as I remember it. Two Super Bowl wins for them Ravens. Now, you got somethin’ else you wanna know? Cause I gotta go check on that casserole in the oven. Don’t want it burnin’ like Billy’s toast last Sunday!
