Well, let me tell ya ’bout them Dodgers and that there Stanley Cup, or whatever they call it in baseball…World Series, that’s right! Heard folks jabberin’ about it, so I figured I’d chime in.
Now, these Dodgers, they been spendin’ money like it grows on trees, ya know? Big money, I tell ya. Heard they got this fella, Ohtani, cost ’em a fortune. Folks sayin’ he’s a real good hitter, pitcher too, somethin’ like that. Sounds fancy, but I just hope he can smack that ball good!
They got other fellas too, Snell, I think his name was. Good pitcher, they say. Supposed to help ’em win, see? ‘Cause that’s the whole point, ain’t it? Spend all that money, gotta win somethin’ for it.
And this World Series thing…it’s a big deal, right? Folks gettin’ all riled up, cheerin’ and hollerin’. They was playin’ them Yankees, pinstripes and all. Fancy pants, them Yankees, always thinkin’ they’re better than everyone else. But the Dodgers, they give ’em a run for their money, that’s for sure.
- Heard they beat them Mets too, to get to the Series. Mets ain’t no slouches neither, so that’s gotta mean somethin’.
- And them games, they go on forever! Evenin’ games, sometimes late into the night. I’m usually in bed by then, but I hear the commotion.
Dodgers been around a long time, ya know? Used to be in Brooklyn, way back when. Then they come out here to Los Angeles. Been winnin’ stuff for years, championships and whatnot. But this year, folks are sayin’ it’s special. All that money, all them fancy players… they gotta win. It’s like bakin’ a cake, ya put in all the best ingredients, it better taste good, right?
I remember seein’ some games on the TV a while back. Fella hits the ball, other fellas run around. Sometimes they catch it, sometimes they don’t. It’s excitin’, I guess, if you’re into that sorta thing. Me, I like watchin’ the birds in the garden, but the grandkids, they love them Dodgers.
This World Series, it’s a long road, I tell ya. Lots of games, lots of travelin’. Those boys gotta be tired. But they keep playin’ hard, gotta give ’em that. Fightin’ tooth and nail, just like a bunch of roosters in a barnyard.
And the fans, oh boy, the fans are somethin’ else. Paintin’ their faces, wearin’ them jerseys… yellin’ and screamin’. They love them Dodgers, that’s for sure. It’s like a big ol’ family, all rootin’ for the same thing.
So, they won the World Series, huh? Well, good for them! All that money and all that fuss, they better win somethin’. Now maybe they can settle down for a bit, let a body get some peace and quiet around here.
But I reckon they’ll be back at it next year, tryin’ to win it all over again. That’s just how it is with these sports folks, always gotta be competin’. Me, I’m just happy to sit on the porch and watch the world go by. But if the Dodgers are playin’, I might just peek at the TV, see what all the fuss is about. After all, it’s somethin’ to talk about with the neighbors, ain’t it?
And that Sasaki fella? Heard they might be gettin’ him too. Another fancy pitcher, I guess. These Dodgers, they just keep spendin’ and spendin’. Well, as long as they’re winnin’, I suppose it’s alright. Can’t complain too much about a winnin’ team, can ya?
So that’s my two cents on them Dodgers and their World Series win. A whole lotta fuss, a whole lotta money, but in the end, they done good. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go water my tomatoes. Them Dodgers ain’t gonna water themselves, that’s for sure.
