Alright, let’s talk about this fella, Patrick Cantlay, and the stuff he lugs around on the golf course. You know, his “witb,” as the young folks say. Means “what’s in the bag,” I reckon.
Driver
First off, that big ol’ stick he uses to whack the ball a country mile. He’s got himself a Titleist GT2 driver, they say. Nine degrees, whatever that means. Sounds fancy, huh? It ain’t like the persimmon woods we used to have back in the day, that’s for sure. I hear tell he used to use somethin’ called a Titleist TS3, 9.5 degrees, with a Mitsubishi Diamana ZF 60 TX shaft. And before that, a Titleist 915F 15 with a Mitsubishi Diamana ZF 70 TX shaft and Titleist TS2 21. Sounds like a whole lotta mumbo jumbo to me, but I guess it works for him. He hits that ball pretty far, that’s all I know.
Woods and Irons
- He’s got some other woods too, like a 3-wood and a 5-wood. More of them Titleist fellas, I think. Can’t keep track of all them numbers and letters they put on ’em.
- Then there’s the irons. He’s got a whole set of them, from a 3-iron all the way down to a pitching wedge. I ain’t sure what brand they are, but they look shiny and new. Probably cost more than my old pickup truck.
Wedges and Putter
Now, them wedges are important, see? They help you get the ball close to the hole when you’re around the green. Cantlay’s got a few of them, different angles and such. He uses them to chip and pitch the ball, real delicate-like. And of course, he’s got a putter. That’s the club you use to roll the ball into the hole. It’s gotta be smooth and steady, just like pourin’ gravy on a Sunday mornin’. I hear he uses a Scotty Cameron putter. Them things are supposed to be top-of-the-line, but I reckon any putter’ll do if you got a good eye and a steady hand.
Shoes and Balls
Oh, and don’t forget about the shoes! Cantlay wears FootJoy shoes, I heard. Gotta have good shoes if you’re gonna be walkin’ around all day on them golf courses. And the balls, well, he uses Titleist Pro V1s, like most of them fellas on the tour. They say them balls go farther and straighter, but I don’t know. Seems to me it’s more about the swing than the ball, but what do I know? I’m just an old woman.
Cantlay’s Choices and Staying with the PGA
Now, this fella Cantlay, he’s been doin’ real good lately, winnin’ tournaments and such. But he decided he wanted to try some new stuff, new clubs and whatnot. He said he wants to play the best equipment out there, whatever that means. Said if he thinks it’ll help his golf, he’s gonna use it. Can’t fault him for that, I guess. Folks were talkin’ about him joinin’ that LIV Golf thing, but he said he ain’t gonna do it. He’s stickin’ with the PGA Tour, he says. Good for him, I say. Loyalty’s important, you know?
Final Thoughts
So, that’s the lowdown on Patrick Cantlay’s bag. A bunch of fancy clubs and balls, fancy shoes, and a whole lotta talent. But at the end of the day, it’s just a game. You hit the ball, you try to get it in the hole, and you have a good time. That’s what matters, right?
