Alright, let’s talk about this MLB The Show 24 and them sidearm pitchers, ya know? Like them fellas who throw all funky, not like the regular fellas. My grandson, he’s always yappin’ about it, so I figured I’d learn a thing or two. Don’t you go expectin’ no fancy words from me though, I’m just gonna tell it like it is.
So, in this here game, MLB The Show 24, they got all sorts of pitchers. But these sidearm fellas, they’re somethin’ else. They throw the ball from the side, almost like they’re slingin’ it, not like them overhand fellas. It’s kinda tricky, see? Batters, they ain’t used to it, makes it hard to hit the ball. That’s the whole point, ain’t it? Make it hard for them fellas to hit!
Now, my grandson, he keeps goin’ on and on about this fella named Tyler Rogers. Says he’s the best sidearm pitcher in the whole game. I don’t know nothin’ about him, but if my grandson says so, it must be true. This Tyler fella, he’s got a bunch of different pitches. He’s got this sinker, makes the ball drop down real quick. Then there’s this cutter, moves the ball sideways. And a slider, or slurve, whatever that is. And a changeup, to mess with the batter’s head. Sounds like a whole lotta trouble for them batters, if you ask me.
My grandson says that in this game, they got this thing called “Road to the Show.” That’s where you make your own player and take him all the way to the big leagues. And now, in this new game, they made it even better. You can make a pitcher, and you can make him throw all sorts of ways, even sidearm. That’s pretty neat, I guess. If you wanna be all tricky and throw like them sidearm fellas, you can do it.
- Sinker: Makes the ball drop down.
- Cutter: Makes the ball move sideways.
- Slider/Slurve: Another one of them sideways balls.
- Changeup: A slow ball, to trick the batter.
Now, I hear tell that throwin’ sidearm like that, it’s easier on your arm. Less stress on your elbow and shoulder, they say. I don’t know nothin’ about that, but it sounds like a good thing. These fellas, they gotta throw that ball a whole lot, so if it’s easier on their arm, that’s good for them. My old joints are always achin’, so I know how important it is to take care of your body.
And get this, they say even some of them regular overhand pitchers, sometimes they’ll drop down and throw sidearm just to fool the batter. Like, they’ll be throwin’ regular, and then bam! They throw it from the side and the batter’s all confused. That’s pretty smart, I reckon. Like, sneak attack, you know? My grandson, he says there were these fellas, Jered Weaver, Bronson Arroyo, David Cone, and Tom Henke, they used to do that sometimes. Guess it worked pretty good for them.
This here game, it seems like they put a lot of thought into it. All these different pitches and different ways to throw. It ain’t just about throwin’ the ball hard, it’s about bein’ tricky and foolin’ the batter. And these sidearm fellas, they’re some of the trickiest of them all. Makes sense, though, this game’s all about strategy!
So, if you’re playin’ this MLB The Show 24 and you wanna be a little different, try out them sidearm pitchers. They might just surprise you, and they’ll definitely surprise them batters. Just remember what I told you, sinker, cutter, slider, changeup. That’s the way to do it, or so my grandson tells me. And if you have trouble aimin’ the ball, well, this game even lets you be more accurate, so you can throw strikes even if your control ain’t the best. Pretty good for us older folks who can’t see so good no more.
Anyways, that’s all I know about these sidearm pitchers. I ain’t no expert, just tellin’ it like I heard it. Hope it helps you out, or at least makes some sense. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make some supper. All this talk about baseball has made me hungry.
