Alright, let’s talk about this Stewart Hagestad fella. Folks keep jabberin’ about him, so I figured I’d put in my two cents, ya know? Now, I ain’t no golf expert, wouldn’t know a birdie from a chicken, but I can tell ya what I hear and what I make of it.
This Hagestad guy, he’s somethin’ else, they say. Apparently, he plays golf real good, but it ain’t his whole life. Unlike them other fellas you see on TV, the ones swingin’ clubs all day, every day, this Hagestad has a real job! Can you believe it? A job! He works in finance, whatever that means. Sounds fancy, huh? Probably wears a suit and tie and sits in a big office, just like my grandson talks about, you know the one who went to that fancy college? Anyways, he deals with money, lots of it, billions they say! Makes you wonder why he even bothers with golf, but I guess some folks just love the game.
- He went to school, that USC place, played golf there too.
- Won some fancy golf tournaments, the Mid-Amateur and the Metropolitan Amateur, whatever those are.
- And get this, he even played in the Masters! That’s a big deal, I hear. But even then, he had to ask his boss if it was alright! Imagine that! Asking your boss if you can go play golf! That’s just unheard of in those big golf tournaments, I reckon. But this Hagestad fella, he’s different, they say.
Now, they say he’s real consistent with his golfin’. Folks who play all the time, they ain’t as steady as him, and that’s somethin’. It’s like he’s got a knack for it, you know? Like my cousin Bessie with her apple pies, always turns out perfect, no matter what. Hagestad’s the same way with golf, it seems.
But the thing is, he ain’t tryin’ to be a pro golfer. He says he ain’t good enough, which I find hard to believe, seein’ as he plays in the Masters and all. But he chose a different path, workin’ in that finance world instead. He’s got a brain for business, I guess. Maybe he figures that’s more reliable than hittin’ a little white ball around. Can’t say I blame him, money’s important, gotta put food on the table, right?
They say he’s the first one to win that Mid-Amateur thing and then make the cut at the Masters. That’s gotta be somethin’ special. Musta made all them pro golfers scratch their heads, wonderin’ who this fella is with the real job, beatin’ them at their own game, even if it was just to make the cut. It is a big deal, though, my grandson, the college graduate told me to make sure to tell you.
So, what do we make of Stewart Hagestad? Well, he’s a smart fella, that’s for sure. Got a good head on his shoulders, knows how to make a livin’, and still finds time to play some golf, and play it real well, mind you. He ain’t your typical golfer, that’s for sure. He’s got his feet on the ground, knows what’s important, and ain’t afraid to work for it. And that, in my book, is worth more than all the golf trophies in the world. He reminds me of my other grandson, the one who works on the farm down the road. Honest work, hard work, and still finds time to do the things he loves. And that’s really something that I admire.
So next time you hear about Stewart Hagestad, remember, he’s more than just a golfer. He’s a workin’ man, a smart fella, and a reminder that you don’t have to choose just one thing in life. You can have your cake and eat it too, as they say. Or in this case, have your job and play your golf, even if it’s in the Masters!
I don’t know much about golf, but I know about hard work and dedication. And from what I hear, Stewart Hagestad’s got plenty of both. He’s a good egg, that one, you can just tell. And that’s all there is to it.
