Well now, let me tell you a thing or two about what’s been goin’ on in that there NXT lately. I reckon there’s a lotta people talkin’ ’bout it, so if you’re lookin’ to catch up on all the news, I can help ya out. NXT’s been doin’ quite a few changes, and let me tell ya, it’s been quite a ride!
First off, NXT went through a big ol’ makeover back in September 2021, when they decided to call it NXT 2.0. They started mixin’ things up real good, addin’ some new folks, new faces, and some new ideas. But wouldn’t ya know it, just a year later, in September 2022, they decided to drop the “2.0” and just go back to callin’ it plain ol’ NXT again. No fancy numbers or anything like that, just NXT. I reckon they realized they didn’t need all them bells and whistles after all.
Now, let’s talk about where y’all can catch this stuff. You ain’t gotta worry ’bout missin’ it anymore, ’cause NXT is now on The CW, that’s right, the big ol’ CW. It happened on October 1, 2024, so if you got Spectrum On Demand, you can watch it whenever you feel like it. Ain’t that somethin’?
And speaking of new faces, there’s this young gal named Simone Garcia Johnson. She ain’t just some wrestler, though—she’s the on-screen general manager of NXT. Yep, she’s the youngest one they’ve ever had, and she’s goin’ by the name of Ava, but don’t go callin’ her Ava Raine anymore, ’cause she shortened it up. Ain’t that cute? She’s got a lotta weight on her shoulders runnin’ the show, but she seems to be doin’ just fine.
There’s another wrestler you might wanna keep an eye on, her name’s Courtney Stewart. She’s a Scottish lass born in 1994, and she’s signed with WWE too. Not sure if you’ve heard of her, but she’s been makin’ a name for herself on NXT, showin’ the world what she’s made of. I tell ya, these young ones are really takin’ over, aren’t they?
Now, if you’re wonderin’ what’s been goin’ down in the ring, there’s been a lot of buzz ’round the Iron Survivor Challenge. You know, it’s always somethin’ when them women get to fightin’. Folks sayin’ the right women won, gettin’ ready for what’s next. Ain’t nobody sittin’ still, that’s for sure.
And don’t go thinkin’ it’s all just the women. NXT’s been throwin’ some big matches on the regular, like Randy Orton comin’ back to his hometown of St. Louis to go toe-to-toe with Je’Von Evans. That’s right, Orton back in his old stompin’ grounds—must’ve been some wild crowd. Plus, Tony D’Angelo took on NXT North American Champion Oba Femi. That was a real barnburner, I tell ya.
Now, for all them folks who like to stay on top of the gossip, let me tell ya, Dave Meltzer’s been busy as usual, talkin’ ’bout it in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. If you ain’t read that, you might be missin’ out on some good inside info. But I ain’t here to spill all the beans, you can go look that up yourself if you’re real curious.
So, there you go! That’s the news on NXT for now. Seems like they ain’t slowin’ down anytime soon, always somethin’ new comin’ up. If you ain’t watchin’, I reckon you better start. It’s a good time for some pro wrestling, and who knows what’s next!
