Okay, so today I decided to tackle this “knocks over crossword” thing. I’ve seen these puzzles around, but never really gave them a shot. Honestly, they always seemed a bit intimidating.

I started by, you know, just staring at it. Yep, that’s step one. A blank grid with a bunch of clues. Some were short, some were long, and some were just…weird. I picked a clue that seemed kinda easy, something with only three letters. I think it was “Small drink.”
I brainstormed a bit. “Tea”? Nope. “Ale”? Maybe? I penciled in “Ale” very lightly, just in case. Then I moved to a connecting word, one that crossed the “L” in “Ale.” The clue was something like “Frozen water.”
Okay, that’s gotta be “ICE,” right? I wrote that in, a little more confidently this time. And hey, it worked! The “L” in “Ale” and the “I” in “ICE” lined up.
I spent a good chunk of time just like that. Some clues were super easy. Some…not so much. I had to erase a lot. My eraser got a real workout today, let me tell you.
Here’s the messy middle part:
- Used a crossword dictionary for a few really, really tough clues.
- Got frustrated, made some tea, came back.
- Realized I had one whole section completely wrong because I misread a clue.
- More erasing.
Slowly but surely, though, the grid started filling up. It was like a little victory every time I got a word right, especially when it helped me figure out another connecting word. It’s kind of addictive, actually.

Finally, after what felt like forever, I got the last word! I actually did it. I finished the whole crossword. I felt pretty darn good, I’m not gonna lie. It was a good mental exercise, and a fun way to waste some time. Might even try another one tomorrow!
