Okay, so I wanted to get better at the “Strands” game. I’m not the best at word puzzles, but I decided to give it a shot today and document how it went. Here’s the play-by-play:

First, I opened up the game. I stared at the letter grid for a good minute, feeling totally lost. It’s just a jumble of letters, and I was like, “Where do I even begin?!”
Then I tried to find any small, obvious words, you know, like three or four-letter ones. I spotted “the” and “and,” and a couple of other short ones, but they didn’t seem connected to anything bigger.
Next, I focused on the hint. Each game has a theme and that can help to search it. I read it, and my first thought was, It can be hard to connect with the hint sometimes.
I started circling letters, trying to make anything that fit the theme. I was going in circles for a bit. Literally and figuratively!
I decided to switch tactics. Instead of just randomly searching, I picked a corner of the grid and tried to work my way through it systematically, one letter at a time. It felt a little less chaotic this way, but I am not sure.

Finally, after a few more minutes of trial and error, I found a word!I was so proud.
I kept going, using the word I’d found as an anchor point, and slowly but surely, more words started to *’s like a chain reaction – once you find one, it helps you see the others.
My Final Thoughts
It took me a while, but I did solve the whole puzzle! It was definitely a challenge, and my brain felt a little fried afterward, but it was a good kind of tired. I guess practice makes perfect, or at least, makes you slightly less bad at it.
