Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this “wawrinka prediction” thing, and let me tell you, it’s been a journey. I started with absolutely zero clue, just a vague idea that I wanted to somehow predict how Wawrinka would perform in his matches.

First, I hit up the internet. I mean, where else do you start, right? I spent hours just googling stuff like “tennis stats,” “Wawrinka match history,” and “how to predict sports results.” It was information overload! I found all these complicated formulas and academic papers, and my head was spinning.
I decided I needed to simplify things. So, I started tracking Wawrinka’s recent matches myself. Just grabbing the basic data – who he played, the score, the tournament, whether he won or lost. I dumped it all into a simple spreadsheet. Nothing fancy, just columns and rows.
My Little Spreadsheet
- Date: When the match was played.
- Opponent: Who he faced.
- Tournament: Where it took place.
- Result:Win or Lose.
- Score: The actual game scores.
Then came the tricky part – trying to find patterns. I started looking at things like, did he win more on clay courts? Did he struggle against certain players? I manually went through the data, highlighting wins in green and losses in red, just trying to get a visual feel for it.
Honestly, it was pretty messy at first. I had all these random notes scribbled on paper, different colored highlighters, and a spreadsheet that looked like a rainbow threw up on it. But, slowly, I started to see some things. Like, he seemed to do better after a good rest, and he really struggled against this one particular player.
I kept refining my little system. I added more data, like the surface of the court and even the weather conditions (which was a pain to find, by the way!). I started giving more weight to recent matches, figuring they were more relevant than matches from years ago.

It’s still very much a work in progress. I’m not claiming to have cracked the code or anything. It’s more like an educated guessing game at this point. But, it’s my educated guessing game, built from the ground up, and that’s pretty cool. I can input the upcoming match details, and my messy spreadsheet spits out a prediction. Sometimes it’s right, sometimes it’s wrong, but it’s always fun to see how it does!
