Okay, so I’ve been digging into the Virginia Tech football depth chart, and let me tell you, it’s been a bit of a project. I wanted to really understand who’s playing where, who’s backing up who, and all that good stuff. Here’s how I went about it:

First, I started by just, you know, looking around online. I figured there’d be tons of articles and stuff about it, and there were, kind of. Lots of fan opinions, but not as much concrete, organized info as I was hoping for.
Then, I decided to go straight to the source. I went to the official Hokiesports website. I figured they have to have the official depth chart somewhere, right? It took a little bit of clicking around, but I finally found something. It was more of an interactive roster, though, not a classic, printed-out depth chart.
Digging into The Player
I then, click each player to get the detail and take notes.
- What I learned.
- The team he used to play.
- How many years he played.
After that, I spent a good chunk of time just clicking through each player, reading their bios, and jotting down notes. Stuff like their year (freshman, sophomore, etc.), height, weight, and any previous schools they played at. It was a lot of information!

Next, I tried to organize everything. I started putting together my own little spreadsheet, listing out the positions (quarterback, running back, etc.) and then filling in the players, trying to figure out who was likely first string, second string, and so on. This was based on a combination of what I saw on the roster and what I’d read in some of those fan articles.
It’s definitely not perfect, and I’m sure things will change throughout the season, but I feel like I have a much better grasp of the team now. It was a bit tedious, to be honest, but hey, now I’ve got my own personalized depth chart to refer to! Also, I feel happy what I finally achieve.
