Okay, so today I decided to tackle this “heredity crossword” thing. I’d seen it floating around online, and figured, why not? Sounds like a fun little brain teaser.

First, I printed out the crossword. Gotta have it on paper, you know? I’m old school like that. I like to scribble and make notes.
Then I started reading through the clues. Some of them were super easy, like, “What’s the thing that carries genes?” Duh, chromosomes. But others? Man, I had to really rack my brain. I even pulled out my old biology textbook from, like, a decade ago. No shame in that, right?
- “Mendel’s favorite plant?” Easy, peas.
- “A trait that masks another?” Okay, that’s a dominant trait.
- “Two identical alleles?” Hmm… homozygous!
I spent a good hour just filling in the easy ones, going back and forth, erasing things, writing in little question marks next to clues I wasn’t sure about. It was like a puzzle within a puzzle!
The Struggle Was Real
There were a few clues that completely stumped me. Like, I vaguely remembered something about Punnett squares, but I couldn’t for the life of me remember the exact term for a specific type of cross. I ended up Googling a couple of things. I’m not proud, but hey, I needed to finish this thing!
Slowly but surely, I started filling in more and more of the grid. It was such a satisfying feeling to see those blank spaces get filled with letters. Like, I was actually accomplishing something, even if it was just a silly crossword.

Finally, after what felt like forever, I completed the whole thing! There were a few answers I was still a little unsure about, but I was pretty confident I’d gotten most of it right.
Honestly, it was way more challenging than I expected, but also way more fun. I actually learned a few things, and I felt like I’d given my brain a good workout. Might have to make this a regular thing!
