So, I saw this “masked basketball” thing trending and thought, “Why not give it a shot?” I mean, I like basketball, and masks are, well, a part of life now. Figured it might be an interesting experiment, and maybe add a little challenge to my usual routine.

Getting Started
First things first, I grabbed my basketball. It’s a bit worn out, but hey, it still bounces. Then came the mask. I opted for a regular surgical mask, nothing fancy. I didn’t want anything that would totally mess with my breathing or vision.
- Basketball: Check.
- Surgical mask: Check.
The Dribbling Drill
I started with some basic dribbling. Honestly, the mask didn’t really affect this part much. I could still feel the ball, control it, and move around the court. I did notice I was breathing a bit heavier, but nothing too crazy.
Shooting Practice
This is where things got a little more interesting. With the mask on, I felt like my peripheral vision was slightly reduced. It wasn’t a huge difference, but I did have to adjust my head position a bit more to keep track of the hoop and the ball. My first few shots were way off. But I kept practicing, and I was adjusting my aim.
The Scrimmage
I decided to up the ante and joined a small pickup game with a few friends. This was the real test. Running, jumping, defending – all while wearing a mask. I have to admit, it was tough. I was definitely breathing harder, and the mask got a little sweaty. The court that I was playing, was * was a hot day.
But you know what? I managed. I was able to play, make some shots, and even grab a few rebounds. It wasn’t my best performance, but it wasn’t a disaster either.

Final Thoughts
So, masked basketball? It’s doable. It’s definitely more challenging, especially when it comes to stamina. But it’s not impossible, and it added a new layer of difficulty to the game. It’s also a good way to show that we can adapt to different situations. Would I do it regularly? Probably not. But as a one-off experiment, it was kind of fun. And hey, it made for a good story, right?
