Okay, so I’ve been getting into collecting basketball cards lately, and Chet Holmgren is like, the guy right now. So I decided to dive in and see what all the fuss was about, card-wise. Here’s how it went down:

First, I hit up some online forums. Just to get a feel for what cards were popular, what to look for, you know, the basics. I quickly learned there’s a ton of different Chet Holmgren cards already, even though he’s still pretty new to the NBA.
The Research Phase
I spent a good few hours just browsing. I learned about the different sets – Prizm, Optic, Select, Mosaic… it’s a whole world! Each set has its own look and feel, and of course, different levels of rarity and value. There are base cards, parallels, inserts, autographs, memorabilia cards – it’s wild!
- Prizm seems to be the “go-to” set for most collectors.
- Optic is like a chrome version of Donruss.
- Select has some really cool die-cut designs.
- Mosaic has that, well… mosaic look!
Making Some Moves
After all that research, I felt ready to actually, you know, buy something. I started small. I didn’t want to go broke on my first try! I picked up a few base cards from different sets, just to get a feel for the quality and see them in person. They arrived a few day ago.
Then I got a little braver. I snagged a couple of parallel cards – these are like the base cards, but with different colors or patterns, making them more limited. I even managed to find a numbered card, which means only a certain number of them were ever printed!
The Thrill of the Chase
Honestly, the most fun part so far has been the hunt. It’s like a treasure hunt! I check different websites, compare prices, and try to find good deals. It’s surprisingly addictive.

Right now, I’m still building my Chet Holmgren collection. I’m not aiming for anything super expensive (yet!), but it’s cool to see it grow. I’ve even started organizing them in a binder, which, let me tell you, is very satisfying.
So far, it has been very fun for me, and I will collect more in the future.
