Okay, so I’ve been wanting to customize my wrestling figure, specifically AJ Styles, for a while now. I finally decided to tackle the side plates on his championship belt. It seemed like a small detail, but I knew it would make a big difference in the overall look.

First, I gathered my materials. I already had the AJ Styles figure and his championship belt. Then, I needed some really fine-tipped paint markers, some tiny brushes, and of course, the right paint colors – mostly red, white, and blue, to match AJ’s usual style. I also grabbed some sealant to protect the paint job afterward.
Getting Started
I started by carefully examining the existing side plates. They were just plain silver, totally boring. I wanted to replicate the “P1” logo that AJ often has on his gear. I looked up some reference images online to make sure I got the design right.
- Carefully examine the side plates.
- Look up some reference images.
The Painting Process
This was the tricky part. My hands aren’t the steadiest, so I took my time. I started with a base coat of white on the tiny side plates. This helped the other colors pop. Then, using the reference images, I very slowly started to paint the “P1” design, using the red and blue. It took a few tries, and I definitely messed up a couple of times! Luckily, I could wipe off the paint quickly and start again before it dried.
The Final Touches
Once I was finally happy with the design, I let it dry completely. This took longer than I thought – I was so eager to see the finished product! After it was totally dry, I carefully applied a thin layer of sealant. This will protect the paint from chipping or scratching when I handle the figure.
Finally, I reattached the side plates to the championship belt. Man, it looked so much better! Such a small change, but it really made the figure look more authentic and personalized. I’m pretty proud of how it turned out, even if it was a bit fiddly to do.

I recommend to do it slowly if you want a good end result.
