Okay, so I’ve been getting into tennis lately, right? And of course, I had to check out what the pros are using. Nick Kyrgios, that guy’s got some serious game, and I was curious about his racquet. So, I decided to get my hands on one and see what the hype is all about.
First off, finding the exact model was a bit of a mission. You know how it is, different versions, limited editions, the whole shebang. But I finally managed to track down a Yonex EZONE 98, which is what he’s known to use, at least that is what people say.
When it arrived, I was like a kid on Christmas morning. Unboxed it, and man, this thing felt solid. Not too heavy, not too light, just that nice, balanced feel in your hand. I took it straight to the court for a hitting session, you know, just to get a feel for it.
- First few hits? Felt pretty good, actually. The ball just seemed to pop off the strings.
- Serving was where I really noticed a difference. I felt like I could generate more power with less effort. It was kind of wild.
- Groundstrokes felt crisp. I’m not saying I was suddenly hitting like Kyrgios, but I definitely felt more in control of my shots.
I played a couple of sets with it, and honestly, I was impressed. It’s a forgiving racquet, which is great for someone like me who’s still working on their consistency. But it also has enough power to really put some heat on the ball when you want to.
My Overall Impression
After playing with it for a few weeks now, I think I get why Kyrgios uses this stick. It’s a solid all-around racquet that can handle pretty much anything you throw at it. Now, am I suddenly going to start winning tournaments? Probably not. But has it helped my game? I’d say so. I started to beat my friend who has been playing tennis for a longer time, which is the best part. It gave me a kind of good feeling and confidence in myself.
It’s a fun racquet to play with, and it’s definitely made me enjoy the game even more. If you’re looking for a new racquet, I’d say it’s worth checking out. Just don’t expect to magically transform into Nick Kyrgios overnight!
And by the way, stringing is also important, but I haven’t changed it yet, maybe next time I can try some new ones and see the difference.
