Alright, let’s talk about the Ohio State National Championships. I’m a huge Buckeyes fan, so this is a topic that’s near and dear to my heart. I’ve been following them for years, through thick and thin, and let me tell you, those championship runs were something else.
Remembering the Wins
- The 2002 Season: Man, that was a nail-biter! I remember watching every game that year. We went undefeated, but so many of those games were close calls. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Finally, we got to the Fiesta Bowl against the Miami Hurricanes. They were the favorites, no doubt. I was nervous, but so were the other fans. It was a double-overtime thriller, but we pulled it off! Maurice Clarett’s touchdown, the controversial pass interference call – I remember every second of it. When the clock hit zero, I went nuts. It was an amazing feeling. I partied with friends all night long.
I bought a ton of memorabilia from that year. I framed newspapers, I got a championship hat and T-shirt and I even got a signed football. I was a student at the time, so I was broke. But I made it happen.
- The 2014 Season: This one was special for a different reason. Remember, we started the season with a loss to Virginia Tech. Not many people thought we had much of a chance at the title after that. But boy did that team prove us wrong! Braxton Miller got hurt, then J.T. Barrett got hurt, and Cardale Jones stepped in and the rest was history. I couldn’t believe it. I was so excited for the team and the coaches.
That playoff run was insane. Beating Wisconsin in the Big Ten Championship Game, then taking down Alabama in the Sugar Bowl – it was unreal. I still remember watching Ezekiel Elliott run all over Alabama’s defense. We all did. And then, finally, the National Championship Game against Oregon. I was a nervous wreck. We dominated that game, though. Zeke ran for like a million yards (okay, maybe not a million, but it felt like it), and the defense played lights out. When we won, I was ecstatic. I called my dad, who’s also a huge Buckeyes fan, and we were both screaming like little kids. I celebrated with a bunch of friends that time, too. We watched the game at a local bar, and the place went crazy when we won.
I still have all my gear from both of those championships. They’re some of my most prized possessions. These are more than just games or wins; they’re part of my life. They’re memories I’ll cherish forever.
