So, I’ve been digging into this whole Trevor Penning situation with the New Orleans Saints, and man, it’s been a ride. This guy was supposed to be a big deal, you know? First, I went back and checked out his rookie season. Injuries, man. They can really mess up a player’s progress, and that’s what happened to Penning. He got hurt, missed a bunch of games, and it’s hard to get into a rhythm like that. It’s like trying to learn to ride a bike but you keep falling off before you get the hang of it. But not like that, it just like keep pausing and keep getting back again.
Then, in his second season, I watched a few of the games he started in, I think he played like six or seven games as a starter. Honestly, he didn’t look great. It wasn’t terrible, but he definitely wasn’t playing like a starter. There were a few plays where he got beat pretty bad, and he just looked, I don’t know, a step slow or something. It was clear why they eventually benched him. Then I saw he was eventually benched after those starts. No surprise there, really.
Now, here’s where it gets interesting. They’ve moved him to right tackle. That’s a whole different position! It’s like asking a wide receiver to suddenly play quarterback. I mean, yeah, they’re both on offense, but the skills and responsibilities are pretty different. It’s a big change, and I was curious to see how he’d handle it.
