Okay, so today I wanted to push myself a bit and see how I’d stack up with the Jaylen Warren bench press. I’d heard some buzz about this guy and his insane reps, so I figured, why not give it a shot?
First off, I hit the gym feeling pretty good. I did my usual warm-up, you know, some light cardio, a bit of stretching, just to get the blood flowing. Then I moved on to some lighter weights to get my muscles ready for the heavier stuff.
When it was time to start, I loaded up the bar. I wasn’t aiming for his exact weight, I just wanted to put the weight I often use. I laid down on the bench, got a good grip, and started pumping out those reps.
The first few sets were okay, not too bad. I was feeling the burn, but it was manageable. But man, as I kept going, it got tougher and tougher. My arms started feeling like jelly, and I could feel my chest screaming. But I pushed through, trying to channel my inner Jaylen Warren.
- Set 1: I started with 15 reps, just to ease into it. Felt pretty good.
- Set 2: Bumped it up a bit, managed to squeeze out 12 reps. The burn was setting in.
- Set 3: This is where it got real. I pushed out 10 reps, but it was a struggle.
- Set 4: I just made 8 reps. I was completely exhausted.
- Set 5: Finally, I want to try the last time with 10 reps. I failed actually.
By the end, I was totally gassed. I didn’t hit anywhere near 51 reps like that NFL beast Justin Ernest, but you know what? I gave it my all, and that’s what counts. I realized that bench pressing isn’t just about strength, it’s also about endurance and mental toughness.
Afterward, I made sure to cool down properly and stretch out those sore muscles. I definitely felt it the next day, but it was a good kind of sore, you know? The kind that tells you you’ve worked hard.
I think I can include it as my 2nd major lift besides squat. All in all, it was a killer workout, and I’m actually looking forward to trying it again. Maybe next time I’ll get a few more reps in. Who knows?
