Well, let me tell ya ’bout Nick Castellanos’ son, Liam. He’s just a young fella, ’round 10 years old, and he’s got himself a good ol’ spot in the heart of his papa’s life. Now, Nick, he’s that big ol’ baseball star, playin’ for them Philadelphia Phillies, but it’s his boy that catches the eye too.
Liam, he don’t live with Nick all the time though. He’s down there in Florida, where his mama, Vanessa Hernandez, took him to live. They say he’s close to his grandma, and spends most of his time down there. But come summertime, you’ll catch him up in Philly watchin’ his daddy swing that bat, and boy, let me tell you, you can see the love in Nick’s eyes when he looks up to the stands and sees his boy. It’s somethin’ special, like a moment you only get once in a lifetime. When his dad hits a big ol’ game-winning hit, like he did in that National League Divisional Series against the Mets, you just know that Liam’s somewhere watchin’ proud as a peacock.
Now, don’t be thinkin’ this boy is just sittin’ in the stands quiet like. He’s become a little star himself, just like his papa. Last I heard, he even got to be a batboy once at one of them Phillies games. Can you believe that? A batboy, that’s somethin’ you don’t see every day. It’s a good start for a young lad, might just be the beginning of his own baseball career one day. Who knows, maybe we’ll be watchin’ Liam out there, swingin’ a bat just like his daddy.
But ya gotta know, even though Liam ain’t with Nick all the time, he sure does make a big impact. Nick, he don’t miss an opportunity to embrace his boy, like the time he ran all the way over to the stands after hittin’ that game-winning single in the ninth inning against them Mets. It was just the two of ‘em, father and son, in that moment together, and it sure did bring a tear to the eye. Sometimes, it ain’t just about the game, it’s about family, and Nick’s got his family in his heart.
Liam’s mama, Vanessa, well, they say she’s a good woman. She was Nick’s high school sweetheart, and they even got married a few years ago, in 2015. She’s been a solid part of the boy’s life, raisin’ him right in Florida. They might not be together no more, but from what I hear, they’re still doin’ what’s best for their youngin’.
Now, the Phillies fans, they love Nick, no doubt ‘bout it. But every time Liam shows up to the game, it feels like the whole crowd just gets a little bit more excited. It’s like the whole family’s part of the team. That boy’s a little piece of Nick’s heart out there. I reckon he’ll be in them stands many more times as the years go by, watchin’ his daddy hit home runs and maybe one day, swingin’ his own bat on that big ol’ field.
So, next time you see Nick up at bat, just remember, there’s a little boy out there cheerin’ him on too, sittin’ up in them stands. It’s the kind of love you don’t see every day, and it makes ya realize that baseball, family, and them good ol’ moments are what life’s really about.
Liam Castellanos: Nick Castellanos’ son, born in August 2013, spends most of his time in Florida with his mama, Vanessa, but shows up at Phillies games in Philly when he can. His dad, Nick, gets real excited to see him in the stands and sometimes even makes a special run over to greet him after a big game.
Father-Son Moments: One of the sweetest things you’ll see is when Nick Castellanos scores a big hit and rushes to embrace his son in the stands. It just shows you how important family is, even in the middle of all the baseball action.
Future Batboy? Liam has even been a batboy at a Phillies game, and who knows, one day he might follow in his daddy’s footsteps and become a baseball star himself!
