Okay, so I’ve been trying to figure out this Josh Naylor guy’s ethnicity. It’s been a bit of a journey, let me tell you. I started by just seeing what I could find online.
First thing I found was some stuff saying he’s got this mix of Canadian and Bahamian heritage. Sounds interesting, right? So I dug a bit deeper into that.
Next, I looked into his early life. Turns out, he was born on June 22, 1997, in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. That explains the Canadian part. I figured his parents might have something to do with the Bahamian side, so I did some more searching about them.
I found out that his parents, Chris and Janice Naylor, are both Canadian citizens, also from Mississauga. His Canadian dad helped coach him throughout his childhood. So, no clear link to the Bahamas there. I kept looking, though, because I was curious.
- He’s got a brother, Bo Naylor, who also plays baseball.
- They’re both making history as one of only a few pairs of brothers playing in the Major League together.
- It also mentioned something about Jackie Robinson, which got me thinking about the history of diversity in baseball.
- Chili Davis and Devon White of the 1988-90 Angels are the most recognizable pair. (Davis and White are two of only four players actually born in Jamaica to appear in an AL or NL game).
- He recently signed a big contract with the Arizona Diamondbacks for $10,900,000.
Some other stuff I found out about:
After going through all that, I’m still not totally sure about the Bahamian connection. Maybe it’s from further back in his family history. I might have to ask around some more to get the full story.
Anyway, that’s what I’ve figured out about Josh Naylor’s ethnicity so far. It’s been an interesting little investigation, that’s for sure!
