Okay, so I’ve always been into yachts, like, who isn’t? But actually getting on one and sailing around? That’s a whole different ball game. I finally did it, though. I booked a trip on the Lioness V, and let me tell you, it was something else.
First off, I had to figure out how much this whole thing was gonna cost. Turns out, chartering a yacht isn’t exactly cheap. I started looking around, and from what I gathered, prices in places like Malaga could range from around $426 for just half a day to over $7,000 for a week in the low season. And that’s just the starting point! The high season? Forget about it, even more expensive!
The Lioness V, though, this thing is huge. Like, 63.5 meters, or 208 feet, long. It’s a Benetti yacht, built in 2006, and it’s been kept up really well. Apparently, it even had some work done in 2017. And the interior? Designed by someone called Green & Mingarelli, and it’s as fancy as it sounds. Think of the most luxurious hotel you can imagine, then put it on the water.
So, I went ahead and booked it. Finding a company to charter through was not too bad, I found one that seemed legit and they had the Lioness V available. I decided to go for a shorter trip, just a few days to test the waters, so to speak.
We boarded the yacht and met the crew. They were super professional and friendly. We talked about where we wanted to go, what we wanted to do. These guys knew their stuff. It turns out that tipping the crew is a big deal. It’s not just about being nice, it’s also about getting great service. Plus, they remember good tippers, and you might get special treatment if you book again.
We set sail and just…wow. Cruising around on this massive yacht, seeing the coastline, it’s incredible. We swam in the ocean, ate amazing food prepared by the on-board chef, and just relaxed on the deck. The Lioness V has six cabins, so there was plenty of room for everyone. We had a blast with the water activities, sunbathed, and took tons of pictures.
Honestly, the whole experience was surreal. It’s definitely not something I’ll be doing every day, but it was worth every penny. Living on a yacht, even for just a few days, is a totally different way to travel. If you ever get the chance, I highly recommend it!

Would I do it again?
In a heartbeat. Maybe next time I’ll go for a full week. Or maybe even longer… who knows?
