Alright, so I’ve been grinding away at MLB The Show 24, trying to figure out this whole trade situation. It’s a bit of a head-scratcher, to be honest. In the older versions of the game, you could just tell your agent you weren’t happy with your team and wanted out. Easy peasy. But this year, it’s different.
So first, I dug around the settings, thinking maybe there’s a hidden option somewhere. I went into the Gameplay Options, and turned on something called “Force Trades”. I thought, “Bingo! This is it!” With this on, I could propose any trade, and the CPU would just say yes. But that’s not really what I wanted. I didn’t want to force trades; I wanted to do it the proper way, through my agent in Road to the Show mode.
Next, I went into the Road to the Show mode, navigated to my player’s interactions, and looked for the option to contact my agent. I found it, but guess what? There’s no actual option to request a trade. It seems like the “Trade Request” thing is just there for looks. It doesn’t actually do anything.
I even scoured the internet, hoping someone had found a workaround. I stumbled upon some posts saying that SDS (the developers) removed the ability to request a trade. Why they would do that, I have no clue. It’s a pretty important feature, if you ask me.
Then I found an article, but it basically confirmed what I had already figured out. You can’t directly request a trade in MLB The Show 24. You’re stuck with your team unless they decide to trade you, or you promote or demote yourself, but I rarely seen that happen. It’s like being stuck in a contract with no way out.
So, what did I ultimately do? Well, I’m still playing with the team that drafted me. I’m just hoping that maybe, just maybe, they’ll decide to trade me at some point. Or maybe SDS will patch the game and bring back the trade request option. Until then, I guess I’ll just keep grinding and hoping for the best.
It’s a bummer, really. I was looking forward to having more control over my player’s career. But hey, that’s how it goes sometimes. You win some, you lose some. I still enjoy the game, but this whole trade thing is definitely a letdown.
